Tooth Extraction
Tooth Extraction
There are times when a tooth needs to be removed. This usually happens when the tooth is causing significant pain and cannot be saved.
Cost of Tooth Extraction (Non-surgical):
From $70 to $300 (excluding GST)
If your tooth is very broken down, it may require a surgical extraction.
In such cases, the procedure becomes medisave claimable.
Common Reasons for Extractions:
- Severe Tooth Decay - Tooth decay is essentially a “hole” in the tooth caused by bacteria, often linked to poor oral hygiene or a diet high in sugar. When decay becomes severe, extraction may be necessary. In such cases, replacement options like dental implants, bridges, or dentures can help restore both function and appearance. - It’s important to visit a reputable dental clinic regularly for check-ups and cleaning. Early detection of decay allows for simple, painless treatment before more serious problems develop.
- Gum Disease - Gum disease is often a silent condition, causing little or no pain until it becomes advanced and teeth start to feel loose. It is usually the result of plaque and tartar build-up, and can be influenced by factors such as poor oral hygiene, genetics, diabetes, and age. - When the supporting bone or gum tissue around a tooth is severely damaged due to gum disease, extraction may be necessary. Regular dental visits and professional cleanings are the best ways to prevent gum disease.
- Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth that do not grow properly can damage neighbouring teeth or cause repeated gum infections. In such cases, removal may be necessary.
Regular dental visits and periodic X-rays help detect these issues early, allowing them to be treated before they cause pain or complications.
