Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are fitted behind your teeth, making them far less visible than conventional braces. They work in a similar way to metal braces - using wires and brackets to move teeth into position. While they are less commonly used today, there are still certain situations where lingual braces are the best option.
Back in the 1980s, our founder Dr Kenneth Lew was the first orthodontist in Singapore to be trained in this advanced technique by Dr Takemoto (Japan) and the American experts of the Lingual Task Force Group (Ormco). This system was used to treat patients long before clear aligners like Invisalign were introduced in the 2000s.

Most people can begin braces once all their adult teeth have come in, which usually happens around 12–13 years old.
In some cases, your dentist may recommend early orthodontic treatment between 6–8 years old to address specific issues early on. Whether this is needed will depend on your child’s individual dental development and will be decided after a careful assessment.
