Veneers & Teeth Whitening
Veneers
Veneers can be used to great effect to improve the appearance of your smile, especially in cases of heavily discoloured or chipped teeth.
It is a permanent treatment that involves cementing a thin outer shell of ceramic onto your teeth to give you a beautiful, natural-looking and youthful smile.
The process typically involves 2 or more visits. The procedure is fairly quick and painless.
Porcelain Veneers
These are thin pieces of porcelain shell placed on the front surfaces of your teeth. They are custom-made after discussion between both the patients and the doctors on what kind of smile we are trying to achieve.
With proper care, porcelain veneers last longer (10-15 years), are stronger and more stain-resistant compared to composite veneers.
Composite Veneers (Bonding)
Bonding is a treatment similar to veneers, except the material used is a high-end resin composite and the procedure takes only a single visit.
It is used to improve the appearance of your teeth and your smile, to change the shape of your teeth and to close small gaps between your teeth.

Veneers are a versatile solution for teeth that are chipped, worn, uneven, crooked, stained, or discoloured. By reshaping and lengthening your teeth, veneers can enhance the colour, shape, and fullness of your smile — giving you a complete smile makeover.

Teeth can be made in a variety of shapes and colours. It is best to bring in a few photos of smiles you like, which will be discussed during a thorough consultation with our doctors to see which style would best harmonise and complement the face.

Attention to detail is essential when designing veneers. Careful planning of the colour, shape, and individual tooth features ensures your veneers look natural and maintain their beauty for years to come.

The amount of enamel removed for veneers depends on the space available and your teeth’s alignment. Minimal to no shaving may be needed, and when it is, it’s usually less than 1mm — about the thickness of a fingernail or contact lens. In some cases, to preserve more enamel, our dentists may recommend a short course of teeth alignment before placing your veneers.
Teeth Whitening
Bright, glossy teeth can transform your smile and boost your confidence. A healthy, radiant smile also conveys well-being and positivity to those around you. Whitening may cause temporary sensitivity, but it is safe and does not damage your enamel.
At Tanglin Dental, we offer two professional whitening options:
- Laser Whitening - quick and effective in-office treatment
- Home Whitening - convenient, gradual whitening at your own pace
Laser Whitening
This in-office procedure typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours and can lighten teeth by 4 to 9 shades on average. Before whitening, your dentist will perform a professional cleaning and apply a protective gum barrier to safeguard your gums. A special whitening gel is then applied to your teeth and activated with a laser light.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a brighter, healthier-looking smile! At Tanglin Dental, we use only premium whitening systems such as Philips Zoom Laser Whitening.
Home Whitening
With our take-home whitening kit, you’ll receive customised trays and a premium, medical grade whitening gel. The gel is placed in your trays, which can be worn for 1–2 hours during the day or overnight while you sleep. The full whitening process usually takes 4–7 days to see noticeable results.
If you used to wear braces, the whitening gel can be safely applied in your retainers.
