Root Canal Treatment

When tooth pain or decay is severe, root canal treatment may be required. This procedure is usually done in 2 stages.

  • Cleaning out irreversibly inflamed or infected nerves that lie within the tooth.
    This stage usually gets rid of the toothache.

  • Once the infection is gone, the root canals and the tooth are filled up. Root canal treated teeth are quite brittle and usually require a protective cap called a crown.

Contrary to popular belief, root canal treatment is not painful! We use a strong local anaesthetic and only begin treatment once you are fully numb. Once root canal treatment is completed, teeth usually require a crown to strengthen them and protect them from cracking.

At Tanglin Dental, complex root canal cases are performed by our Specialist Endodontists under a microscope to ensure the most optimal treatment outcomes.
