Root Canal Treatment
When tooth pain or decay is severe, root canal treatment may be required. This procedure is usually done in 2 stages.
Cleaning out irreversibly inflamed or infected nerves that lie within the tooth.
This stage usually gets rid of the toothache.Once the infection is gone, the root canals and the tooth are filled up. Root canal treated teeth are quite brittle and usually require a protective cap called a crown.
Contrary to popular belief, root canal treatment is not painful! We use a strong local anaesthetic and only begin treatment once you are fully numb. Once root canal treatment is completed, teeth usually require a crown to strengthen them and protect them from cracking.
